The founders of Begoña Cliff Hotel, husband-and-wife duo Errol Hewitt and Yvonne McKenley-Hewitt, could usually be found up a snow-capped mountain, skiing with friends from her club Nubian Ski, until, on a visit to sunny Jamaica in 2019, they decided to buy a hotel in need of work.
A year later, the day Errol returned to the island from the UK, for a funeral, Jamaica closed its borders.
So, he rolled his sleeves up and project-managed the rebuild of their hotel in Negril himself. Creating sleeping rooms out of shipping containers, offering simple, relaxing vibes with views of the Caribbean Sea.
There is also a pool to wet your feet while sipping rum punches from the bar nearby.
