I’m heading back to Ayo’s place in December
If you ever want to know if another man has ever faced hunger, eat like a pig in front of him and if he doesn’t join you then he’s lived a charmed life. Facts. Got this insight from a twenty-two-year-old Floridian at the South London Kitchen supper club, in Deptford.
SLK founder, Ayo Salau, invited his friends down to join me for dinner back in August. And as it was my first night out since Covid, I went as Kenisha. The other me. And I have to say I haven’t laughed so much in a long time. Everyone there was a creative person and came from all over the world.
Lots and lots of jokes, yummy food and speaking in multiple accents.
I also said to them: “I am the brand. Creating a new world from the inside out. Laying the foundations for future generations to come.” And they got it.
I’m heading back to Ayo’s place in December. Can’t wait.
Read Ayo’s story in the latest issue, Pitch Cool.
Best wishes,
