I really like these two women
“Kenisha, have you cleaned your face?”
“Yes mum.”
“Remember to stay out of the sun.”
“Yes mum.”
That was the beauty advice I received from my mum and lived by for years.
Now that I’m getting older, soap and water alone won’t do. It’s time for the experts.
And I’ve found them, Abi Lawrence-Adesida and Jacqueline Kusamotu, founders of Candour Beauty.
Launched eighteen months ago, the pair hatched their plan for Candour Beauty while working in management at a telecoms company.
Naturally drawn together by a passion for skincare, they’d both experienced how Black women are often overlooked, misunderstood, and ignored by the beauty industry. So, decided to draw on their digital experience and their “shared qualities of grit, proactiveness, focus and perseverance” to create an authentic platform offering quality, tried-and-tested beauty, and personal care products specifically for women of colour.
I of course popped onto their site to buy my first Glycolic Toner, which is great for helping with dark circles under one’s eyes.
Abi and Jacqueline also give great advice on best products for different skin types.
I really like these two women.
