Tom Brandhorst might be fresh to the world of directing, but he’s arrived with an already impressive portfolio of work. The director, who is represented by Movidiam, spent several years working in advertising and social media, first at agency Leo Burnett and then at football-focused media company Copa90 - where he headed-up editorial. Thanks to his time working in branded content, Brandhorst developed a keen eye not just for what makes a good story, but the best way to share it with the world. “It means that now when a story comes in, I’ve got a clear idea of how the audience wants it to be told, and what’s going to get them going,” he explains. “I think if you’re trying to grab someone’s attention with a story, it’s that classic editorial 101 of making sure it’s told in an interesting way with a clear hook - being right on the frontline has given me a deep understanding of how this works.”
